Buzz is that Aamir Khan, who is currently gearing up for upcoming action-drama Thugs of Hindostan, will start working on his dream project Mahabharat (which would be a 5-movie series) after Thugs Of Hindostan. Reports also suggested that the actor, who was keen on co-producing ‘Salute’ with Siddharth Roy Kapur, backed out from Rakesh Sharma’s biopic, titled Salute as his dream project Mahabharat would roughly take up 10 years of Aamir’s life.
Well, according to latest reports, Reliance boss Mukesh Ambani will co-produce the superstar’s most ambitious film yet for the big screen. Yes, you read that right. In a statement to Mid-Day, a source revealed that Ambani, who had only recently invested in entertainment companies Eros and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji, is all set to co-produce Aamir’s upcoming film and this will be a ‘one-off’ engagement.
It is yet unknown, whether the Mahabharata series mark Ambani’s foray into film production with a separate company or he’ll be involved through his existing media-related entities, Jio or Viacom 18. Sources further told the daily, “International writers will be brought in to sharpen Mahabharata’s story-line, to appeal to a global audience.” It was earlier reported that The Mahabharata series will be made on a budget of Rs 1,000 crore, making it the biggest film in India. On the professional front, Aamir is busy shooting for Thugs of Hindostan, which stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan. The actor was last seen in in Dangal and if reports are anything to go by, then Thugs of Hindostan might be his last project for a couple of years. The Vijay Krishna Acharya-directed Thugs of Hindostan is based on an 1839 novel by Philip Meadows Taylor, Confessions of a Thug. Watch this space for further updates.
