Home Wild Life Breaking! Big Cat Poacher Mauled To Death & Eaten By The Pride...
This seems like the perfect case of Karma for the Lions.
A hunter at the Ingwelala Private Nature Reserve in Hoedspruit outside Phalaborwa, South Africa, was stalking a pride of lions, but it tuned out the lions ended up stalking the hunter after they had enough. They attacked the hunter, mauling him to death. The lions devoured his body and left his head untouched.
The people at the reserve heard screams for help in the distance as the man was being attacked by the pride of lions.
The hunter was believed to be a poacher since he was not known by anyone at the reserve and a hunting rifle was found next to his body.
Per the Daily Mail, British wildlife photographer Charlie Lynham, 59, from Liverpool who now lives close to the reserve has spent years photographing the resident lion pride that lives there.
Mr. Lynham said, ‘It turns out it was not the resident pride that lives here responsible as they were on a buffalo kill at the time of the incident but a pride perhaps come over from the Kruger (National Park),’he said.
‘It happened on the border of the Umbabat Game Reserve after dark and may have been on their reserve.
‘Two .456 big game rifles and ammunition were also found at the scene and that is the weapon of choice used by those hunting big game – especially elephant and rhino in the bush.
Lions are considered a vulnerable species on the IUCN International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species. Over a century ago, there were more than 200,000 wild lions living in Africa. Today, there are only an estimated 20,000 remaining in the wild due it poaching for their pelts, teeth and claws, Trophy hunting for so-called “sport”, habitat loss and human-animal conflict. Lions are regionally extinct in
7 African countries.
